week 54

Hello everyone!

This last week has been the last week of the transfer. Throughout the week it's been pretty much focused on the work and not on what was to happen by the end of the week. Through we tried our best it still made it's way over to stress us out in some way, mainly me. Yesterday it was all put to rest as the answers were given as the calls began to flow in to all the missionaries. Excitingly my old companion, Elder Hansen, is now the new assistant, with Elder Torrie leaving for home, tomorrow. Our district will also be turning into a elders only district, the dianella sister are both leaving and are being replaced by elders. Then the area elder oemcke came from is being filled in right now with two other elders. The only sisters we have in our district are the sister training leaders. It'll be an interesting change to the district. We're almost an elders quorum. Moving on!

The week has been pretty good. We were pretty much out and about throughout the week, so not too much to report on, but we shall see what we can get. We had zone p-day which was a lot of fun. We played some grid Iron (American Football) and one of the board games I have from elder Williams. It was a lot of fun. Some of the sisters did pretty well at grid Iron, though the elders seemed to be a bit more aggressive. All in all it was a great zone p-day. Then the week began and things just rolled on by. On Tuesday we had a meeting with the stake, and there president Bennallack made some changes to the way missionaries work with members. Now Missionaries can have meals with the members even without a non-member or less active. This is in hopes of building up unity with the members and missionaries. Many of the missionaries are pretty excited and were waiting for such a change. I'm excited for it and hope to be able to work more closely with the members.

Later on in the week we set up a game night with one of our less actives in our area. He is unable to move about due to his weight. So in hopes of him being more engaged with the ward we set up a game night for him with the members. We were able to have our first one just this last Friday. It was a lot of fun and i think that he enjoyed it a lot. Were hoping to keep it going for the long run. We got to play a real cool game with him and a few of the members. It was called Lords of WaterDeep. Its a strategy game around earning points by sending your agents to gather resources to complete quests. It was quiet fun. Then this Sunday we taught Elders Quorum The lesson went really well and a lot of people said they enjoyed it and felt the spirit. I can't remember it all that well so i guess its true.

Not too much else exciting or interesting happened during the week. Hope you all have a wonderful week this week and enjoy yourselves.

Love,
Elder Boren

week 53

Hello everyone!

It hasn't been too long since we last spoke just a few days. During which not too much has happened, but I'll give you the run down of what I can remember.

This last p-day we went to the temple. We bikes there which made me think of the many stories of members making there way to the temple. Though it wasn't far for us to reach the temple it, wasn't a easy road to bike. It reminded me of how blessed we are that we have a temple nearby, and i love that we can't use our cars to get there. It helps us remember of the many experiences that others went to reach to temple when is was thousands of miles away. I was a wonderful experience and i'm glad for the chance we have to trek it to the temple.
The next couple of days were focused on doing the work in the area were in. Not too much happen that comes to my mind but it was a great couple of days. Then on Saturday we were able to do a lot of service at our local Salvos, and for one of the members in her back yard. The salvos was great, we were able to spend a good amount of time there of just service. Then as we were heading out i decided to pick up some ties, three of them, which weren't on sale yet. I asked the pricer, who we work with a lot, How much they would cost. She grabbed them and put two aside Priced the one and gave it to me to pay for. I went to pay for it and then they brought the price from 3 dollars to 2 because we volunteer there. Both of them expressed Their gratitude to us for helping out. It was a great moment. Then later on that day we went and visited with a less active and talked to her. After sometime she decided to visit a nearby neighbor which we soon began doing service for. It was a great day full of service.

Then we had a really good Sunday. We had one of our investigators come to church for the first time, and he seemed to really enjoy it, Hopefully we can keep on working with him. Then after some really good lessons during church we went home to do some studies, but before we could do that we had to do some work. We had to go give brother Dickson a blessing as he wasn't felling to well. After giving him the blessing we talked for a bit. Which lead to them giving us some food, and a board game they weren't using. I felt like they were giving us too much, but they were having a hard time and wanted to do something for us, so i din't say no. So we got a new board game and some dinner that night. Then we went and visited with a less active who is less active only because he can't make it to church due to his wait. Wanting a chance to help he share his testimony to others and help out the ward we decided to get a game night organized with him, and have it over at his place. We haven't got it set up, yet but hopefully we can get it going here soon.

And that's the end of the week and onto this week. Today is Zone p-day and it'll be a lot of fun i hope. I'll let you know how it goes next week.

Hope you all have a wonderful day, and week!

week 52

Hello everyone.

Hope you've all had a good week. I myself have had a good one but it has been a long one. The main reason for that is that p-day wasn't on Monday as it normally is, instead it's today. I forgot to give you notice about it. So sorry on my part. The change is because we have scheduled to go to the temple today and in order not to waste time we alter our p-day to the day we go. We have the opportunity to go to the temple every 6 week or once a transfer. So today will be a good day.

The book of Mormon is a big focus for our mission and the zone right now. Our zone has made it a goal to had out 300 copies of the book of Mormon in 30 days. The challenge started the 10th, with today being the 15th. Already in the amount of time our last total, recorded on the 12th, had us at 35 as a zone so far. So far as a companionship we have passed out 7 copies of the book of Mormon since that time. It is wonderful to see how things are being prepared even in this part of the world. Through this challenge we've been able to see an increase of the key indicators, weekly statistics. We also know that once the book of Mormon is in their hands and in the home the spirit will be able to work through that.
happened this week just a good amount of solid work being done. Just the other day we had our district council and it went really well. We did a role play with the zone leaders, and they loved the way we presented the book of Mormon which was the focus of the role play. Then we went over accounts of people in the scriptures being bold in action or teaching. It was awesome to see the many different examples of it shared by some of the missionaries.
This week was a good week full of energy and pressing forward. I also had an exchange with elder Hansen for a couple of days. During which we experienced a number of tender mercies. One of which was this man from Macedonia who let us in on sight of us. We then talked to him for about to hours, or as he would say we spent time exchanging breath. He was an interesting person with a lot of ideas and knowledge. I'm excited to see him again, and I'll be practicing my 120s.
Also during the exchange we went over to a struggling family in their ward. They haven't had missionaries over in a long time, and they offered the zone leaders to come over for dinner. Happy I went in elder Stephen stead. There I had the most American dinner on the mission. That night we were served brisket, that he slow cooked himself, with some wonderful bbq sauce. Then they had some amazing potato bake witch was perfect, but to top it all off. They had some A&W Root beer and cream soda. You dont know how much you love tell its gone.  Then we just had a great time talking to the family, it was wonderful, and it really seemed to raise their spirits.

All in all it was a great week with a lot of excellent moments throughout the entire week. The best part of the mission is truly the people we meet along the way. I hope you all have a wonderful week and finish it well.

Love,
Elder Boren

week 51

Hello everybody!

Not too much happened this week. We had zone conference the other day, and there we went through a lot of training centered around how to use pour smart phones and what we need to do to prepare ourselves for them. It was a lot of stuff to go through, but it was pretty cool. i saw my MTC teacher, Brother Bronson in the videos. He was one of the missionaries in district 3. This week we'll be receiving our phones, so it'll be an exciting week to come. A lot of things will change after Tuesday, when we receive them.

In other news My dearest companion will be signing off. For the past while he has been fighting to do the lords work while his back cried for rest. Now for his sake He is returning home, in hopes to recover and return in full health. Elder Williams was a great companion and one i shall never forget. My hope and wish is that he will recover quite quickly and return to us in the mission field. I know that he will, i just hope it'll be sooner rather then later. He has a great heart and willingness to help and serve the lord in all he does.

As for what is to happen to me, i have no idea. We'll know for sure sometime today. It'll be interesting to see what will happened, but in all of it the lords hand is there. In all we go through and all the challenges that we face the lord is always present. He knows what we are to face and prepares us with the tools to face them. Some of these tools may be companions, teachers, friends, family, scriptures, music, etc. he will never leave us unprepared for whats in store. Even if it seems like there is nothing that could help you, remember that we are not meant to know everything all at once. He will give us things one step at a time, so that we can know for ourselves the true fullness of it, and that we are not overcome. He truly does love each one of us, and he cares.

Hope you all have a wonderful week this week to come. Hope to hear from you soon.

week 50

Hello Everyone!

This last week has been an interesting week, mainly because we've been hosting a lot of elders the past couple of days in our flat. First we had the Kalgoorlie Elders  With elder Rere and Taveita, Elder Taveita went home just this week so elder Rere got a new companion then we sent them on their way. Then soon after they left the same day we got Elder Cheek and his new son, who he'll be finishing his training, as he was started by zone leaders. Then after they left We Got the Geraldton Elders, That being Elder Wilsher and his new Son, who just came in. it was a ball to host all these Elders at our flat though its not much of a flat. So we had elders at our flat for most of the week, until the weekend came on by. Then we had a meeting with our mission President where he talked to Elder Williams about his health condition and what should be done from here on out. Because of his back problems, we can't do too much work, and we spend most of the days locked up in the flat. So next week, or from this point for couple of days we'll be staying with the zone leaders. That way one of us can go out and work while the other rests. And since the zone leaders son injured his leg he can't really work either. So this way we can get back to work in our areas in a way. So it'll be an interesting week.

A part of it that'll make it interesting is the meetings going on this week. We'll be have our Zone conference Thursday, where they'll be answering questions over phones and other changes that'll be happening with the phones. So on Thursday we should know a deal more of whats going on, and then soon after we'll receive our phones, though we don't have a day for that just yet. So, yeah an interesting week this week. I'll tell you what happens next time.

Hope you all have a wonderful week to come!

Elder Boren

week 49

Hello everyone,

I hope that you've all have had a wonderful week this last week. For me it's been a pretty great week with a few changes here and there, but none were directed towards me! So i will be keeping Elder Williams for a season longer. Which is great because for the past few transfers I've been changing companions at each transfers, so finally the curse was broken and i have become a free man! Throughout this week we were doing exchanges. So for Tuesday- Wednesday I went to subiaco With Elder Oemcke. It was pretty nice, and good to go to a different area and work there. After that we went out we went on exchanges with the Zone leaders on Thursday and Friday. It was pretty good, and they have a great flat. The rest of the week has been pretty much the same, not too much change over all. Today is the beginning of the new transfer, and in this transfer it'll be my one year on the mission! It's all coming so fast looking back its hard to believe it's already been one year. Before i know it i'll probably be almost finished. The mission really does fly by.

Don't think i have anything else to report on. So i hope you all have a wonder week to come, and i can't wait to hear from you soon.

Love,
Elder Boren

Moving from Maylands to Dianella week 65

Gooood Morning Everyone! (Or Evening) This week has come to a sad conclusion. For 7 and a half months I have served here in the maylands...
