A man from China week 60

Hello everyone!

This week has been a good week full of interesting stuff throughout it all. One awesome things that happened this week was me and elder oemcke will be staying together for another transfer. This means that my curse has been broken elder oemcke is my first companion that I've been with for more then a transfer since elder Daniels. And it's awesome that I'll be staying in maylands for longer! This ward has been awesome and I'm really glad that I've had the chance to be here to begin with. There'll be a number of things changing around me. Elder Brown and Higgins will be switching areas with the zone leader sometime within the next 6 weeks, so it'll be interesting. Also my previous companion elder Heaton will be coming down to being an assistant. So our district will be a leadership district with the sister training leader, the assistants, the zone leaders, a trainer, and the district leader. So this'll be an exciting transfer.

One awesome thing that happened this weekend was while we were at church,(has we haven't seen general conference) someone was taking pictures around the chapel. Then he was invited in by a member after sacrament meeting. So me and elder Brown started talking to him. His name was xin, from China. One member of the ward spoke mandorian and talked to him in his native language. We were able to talk to him for a while about all the question he had. We invited him to watch general conference with us next when they show it for the ward. We're really excited for him.

Hope you all had a great week, and will have another one to come.

Love,
Elder Boren

week 59

On Tuesday it was our p-day, due to the public holiday, we spent the most part of the day traveling from place to place, but it was a good p-day. A cool moment was while we were waiting at a train station to make it back home, a man came up to us to talk to us. He asked if we were from Utah which we denied and told him where we're from. He then told us that he considered himself a "mormon/jew" and told us one thing he didn't like about the church was the fact that we teach plural marriage. We then told him that we haven't practiced it or taught it in a long time. We then asked if he was interested in taking the lessons which he agreed to and gave us his number. We got in contact with him and hopefully we'll be seeing him soon.

Then after p-day the rest of the week was packed full of service. Last week we scheduled with someone we knocked to come by and do service for them. We arrived on Wednesday morning and begun the service. It started with digging a hole. Then we cleared out a area, and broke up some concrete slabs. Then I was put on painting to allow a friend of theirs to work on a different project. So I spent the rest of the time painted a fence white. Throughout the service we answered questions and talked with the kids as well as the adults. It was a great time. Then we had to come back another time because we couldn't finish. So we came by the next morning to get more of it done, but hopefully we'll finish it all this week.

Then we had exchanges with the Subiaco elders and I was with elder Maksimov from the Ukraine. It was pretty good. We had a service with them and the sisters in the ward in the morning, working at a garden. It was good fun, and someone the sisters are working with came along for it. The rest of the time I was with elder Maksimov and we talked about a lot of stuff. We were also lucky because that night there was a baptism of one of the members children, The Bytheway family (Like John Bytheway). It was a really good service with the spirit throughout. The sisters were able to have the person from the service, Ryan, come to it as well. It was pretty awesome.

Then on Saturday like always we didn't some service at the nearby salvos. On this day there was a big event going on in western Australia, it was the grand finals. Which is similar to the super bowl, but not American football. The grand finals is for the AFL which is the Australian Football League, which is a sport similar to rugby. It's hard to explain. The big thing was that one of western Australia's AFL teams, The West Coast Eagles, made it to the Grand finals. So a lot of people were focused on that. So much so that we were advised not to go finding during the game. So that was fun. The good news was that the Eagles won, so go eagles!

Then it was the Sabbath and it was a beautiful Sabbath day. The day started out like any other with us making our way to church and greeting people, and waiting for people to arrive. So to set the scene the chapel has two entrances one is the front doors, then the back doors, also were the some stake offices were and family history is located. So we were greeting people then the dianella elders arrived and we started talking to them. Then I saw someone pass by from the back entrance with a cello with several other, with them was the stake President and one of his councilors. Then one of the group members went over to us to shake our hands. By this point elder Higgins knew who it was and he started freaking out, "oh my gosh its the piano guys!" And just so it happens the piano guys were dropping by for sacrement meeting. They played a musical number
"The Mission/ How great though art" which was awesome, and is also a favorite of mine. Then they all shared their testimonies with us which was awesome, they each had strong testimonies, with wonderful messages in them. I wish I could prove this to you with pictures but sadly we weren't able to meet with them afterwards. None the less it was an awesome experience.

So for me this was quite a highlight week of the transfer. It was just awesome throughout it all. Hope y'all have a wonderful and awesome week.

week 58

Hello everyone. Sorry about the lack of communication but yesterday wasn't our p-day due to it being a public holiday. It's the queens birthday (or at least when they celebrate it here) and so they have these things going on. One of which is this big show that they have, which is like a festival or carnival. Got a quick glance at it today, but don't really know too much else.

This weekend we had stake conference, and for it they had Elder Natress of the General authority 70 and second councillor to the Pacific area. It was a really good conference. The talks throughout it all were quite good. Elder Natress was a highlight of it, he spoke really well. It was also awesome to see one of the recent converts of the ward sustained as an elder. It's been awesome to see the growth in his life and all the changes he made.

This week was also pretty good over all. On Saturday we worked at salvos as we normally try to. I always love doing It, it's always a favorite time of the week. We also had exchanges with the zone leaders. I was with elder Gunter who is pretty awesome. We had a lot of fun together and were able to find someone with a lot of potential, hopefully it'll lead somewhere. We were also able to do some service over at a members home, who we didn't even know was there. They had us dig some dirt and put it in a bin. We finished it pretty quick, and so they took us out for lunch at Dominos. They gave us a bunch of left over that they've made as well. So it was pretty awesome. Then I made Chop Suey the other day which is a Samoan Dish. It was quite good, still need to Master it, but I got time to do that.

One of the weird things that I thought of today and for a few day was that tomorrow will be my 14 months mark, which is so weird. It feels like I was just celebrating my 1 year mark just a few days back, but nope it was 2 months ago. Time really does fly on the mission. So much going on throughout the days sometimes you just get caught in the blur of it all. I'm glad I made the choice to come out here, and that I still have some time left.

Love you All!

Elder Boren

P.S. The Unicorns are my friends now!

week 57

Hello everyone!

Hope you've all had a wonderful week and enjoyed it some way or another.

This past week has been pretty good. It was a pretty packed week with a whole bunch of stuff going on throughout the week. Really good week overall.

Started off this week with an exchange with the Subi elders. I was with elder Silva in his area. It was a lot if fun and we had a great time. Elder Silva is a convert from Portugal. It was awesome watching him teach and testify of what he's come to know. He's doing really well and I'm excited with what he'll continue to do. Right now he's training a elder from Ukraine, who is learning English. It's an interesting mix, but they're both doing great with it. During our time together we had to do a lot of moving around getting from place to place, running errands we needed to do that day and such. It was good when we were able to do some work. We went to go to some appointments one was with Paul and the other was with lis. Paul was an interesting guy, we were going over the baptism question, as he was on date then, but a few of them he had to be honest with us. It was an interesting appointment with a lot of laughs. I hope he continue to work on baptism, though right now he won't be able to do it honestly. But he's looking for a wife if anyone knows where he can get one. Lis was a great follow up. He was really keen on the gospel and loved the plan of salvation, which we taught her. She loved how amazing all the kingdom's sounded and how it all sound familiar to her and made sense. It was an awesome experience, one of the most prepared person I've taught. She already loves everything we taught her. We invited her to baptized and she accepted! She also has a son whose 7 but is really smart. He even drew picture of us. It was awesome, highlight of the exchange. We then went to help with a move. I was designated as the small skinny guy to got up top and stuff it full. It was good fun, the members there were great. One of them was from Texas, and another served in San Antonio! It was pretty mean. Hoping to visit them as the boundaries are being worked on for the missionaries.

The next day we had zone conference which focused on the changes that the mission was going through an some things we need to get started on. At that point it was the beginning of getting the area book and digitizing them. I thought of digimon, childhood! It'll take a bit to transfer all the information but it'll be really useful once it's all there. It's pretty exciting do all this preparation and work with the phones. The tools we have will be awesome and with help out with the work today and the future missionaries.

The rest of the week was packed full of small thing and getting some needed stuff done. I got a new Australia hat, this one is for their cricket team. Support all the things Australians love! Though I have no idea how to play it, I understand how it works though.

Hope you all have a wonderful week to come, and continue to work and build for the future. You never know what impact you're truly making until you look at the change in others. The greatest impact you'll have will be on the ones you interact with and the inperstions you leave. The path you are traveling could be one someone follows after you.

Hope to hear from you soon

Hello everyone, Glad to hear from you all once more

Hope you've all had a wonderful week the last week. This week went by pretty quick, though as always i can't seems to remember it all. Maybe it's the joy of working for the lord. From the beginning its always been pretty quick, but full of wonderful moments throughout the journey.  Looking backat it all, its easy for me to tell how i've changed and became what i am today. Its weird how little you realize how much you've changed in the space of a year. I can look back and see all the mistakes i made, all the things i wish i would've done, and could've done. With all that i'm so glad that i've taken this chance to come out here and to change so much as an individual though i am much the same. Its the cool thing of what you receive whenever you give yourselves to others in service. Its the greatest way to change. Its not really the work that changes you, or the reward, its the people that you meet while working. You meet all these other people trying their best to serve as well as the people you actually serve As you go about serving. I've really enjoyed my mission, and am so glad that i still have some time left.

This week has been pretty normal, which not too much to expand upon, or at least in a way that i can remember it. But it was a good week, that is for sure, And i'm excited for the next one to come. Don't know what else to say so i'll leave it at that.

See ya next time.

Love,
Elder Boren

week 55

Hello everyone hope you've all had a wonderful week this week. Everything has been pretty good down here last week began this transfer and on Wednesday the transfer were finalized and now everyone is in there respective areas. Two of the areas in our district were cleaned out and the new elders gave just arrived. Now they're getting used to there new areas. From my point of view we have a really nice district. I for one really enjoy all the members in it. We also have a pretty diverse with one from Portugal, and one from the Ukraine. Then three Aussies, one kiwi, and one American. It's a lot of fun.

This week was also a cool week to all the stuff that came my way. On Monday I was able to pick up a Scottish note book with a similar tartan to the one I have. So it kind of kicked off some searching for my ancestors. Looking deep to my Scottish line. It was really cool to see all the clans that I have an ancestor to. Then on Saturday while working at the salvos we came across a kilt. The staff there put it on hold for me so I could figure out what it was from and what clan it belongs to. So with the help of one of the members we were able to figure out that it's the Cameron of Erracht Regimental Tartan and I was able to figure out that I have one ancestor from that clan. It was pretty awesome to figure out. Then today I went to go see how much it would cost to pick it up, as Kilts can go for 100s of dollars. But when I came to pick it up it only was 16 dollars to take it. The manger then even told me that if she was personally gonna sell it would've gone for 150. It was awesome and now I have a kilt of my own.

All in all it was a pretty good week here in maylands. Hope you all a good one as well.

Love,
Elder Boren

Moving from Maylands to Dianella week 65

Gooood Morning Everyone! (Or Evening) This week has come to a sad conclusion. For 7 and a half months I have served here in the maylands...
